    * Preferably from a decent make.
    * DVD Recorder support would be the icing on the cake but it's not essential.
    * Ideally it would have two scarts.
    * Ideally it would support RGB loop-through.

    Thanks

The Pioneer 575 does play XVid. Altho, sometimes the picture can be a little jerky during high bitrate scenes. But, if the sound has been encoded in AC3 ... oh the joy! :)

All divx players have a bit rate limit. I've not had a problem with any of mine on the Pioneer. Make sure they aren't packed bitstream divx Dazb75 as they can be easily fixed to play smooth.

I'm loving my Pio 575, It has played every disc i have thrown at it... Must have played 20 different DivX and Xvid movies on it from various sources with no problems... saying that I've yet to hear SACD... but can't wait.
If you get Multiregion version it plays'em fine even RCE disks I am led to believe.

I'd get that player but it only has 1 scart. I need two (preferably with RGB-loop through) for my Freeview box.

It makes no sense as the previous model (which couldn't play Divx/Xvid) had two scarts and the next model up of the current range has two scart but can't play DivX/Xvid. Only this player in their range can???

    Explain that!

p.s - Age Owns don't forget DVD-Audio. It's very good to. My current Panasonic model can play DVD-Audio. I wish it could play SACD too!

I didn't know how good the formats are when I bought it.

Get the Sony Freeview box, it does RGB loop thru, as does the Pioneer freeview box ;-)

NX3 are you saying I can use my Pioneer ex-on digital box to loop a DVD player through it and out to a TV? OR do I need a specific Freeview model?

I always assumed it was the other way round. I'll try it tonight. My Panasonic DVD player has RGB loop through and I loop my Freeview box through it to the TV.

    Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to look but it doesn't play DVD-Audio or SACD.

The only other player apart from the Pioneer that can play Divx/Xvid, SACD and DVD-Audio I know of is an Onkyo player which looks goreous is £100 more but again only has 1 scat.

Until the day comes I own a TV with 3 scarts (2 of which must support RGB) I need RGB loop-through.

    Thanks NX3.

p.s - Because those types of boxes are messy to say the least. I'll probably wait until I own a TV with 3 scarts.

    Does the 575 play DVD+R and DVD+RW?

I know it's not listed but neither is it in my Panasonic DVD player manual. In fact it even says it can't play DVD+R/RW but it can.

I need a player than can play both + and - . I'm considering the Pioneer after all. I'm considering getting a new TV and Toshiba's have component inputs so I wouldn't need the loop through or scart anyway, and therefore I'd have a spare RGB scart for my Freeview box.

Tested TDK DVD+RWs on mine with no problems. Tried a DVD re-encoded from XviD and another with multiple file types: JPEG, MP3 and DivX. It coped well with both.

Thanks guys. I've since read two reviews from Home Cinema Choice Online and both state DVD+ in the specs.

It's odd officially it doesn't support it.
