Currently using LG TV and USB hard drive to record. Picture quality of recordings is ace. However, it has some drawbacks: flaky slow tv guide, randomly loses channels and can only record and watch same channel. I was using separate non recordable freesat box on separate HDMI feed to allow us to watch other channel but recordings suffered black screen interruptions when you switched tv off etc; and box has since died.
I know catch up is much improved nowadays but I still find recording stuff much easier for catching up than scrolling through app choices to find tv progs missed etc.
So pondering "new" freesat recordable box but concerned re the fault list and inability to add extra time to recordings(if that is still the case?). Noticed Amazon have Humax 1100S HDR boxes for around same money backed by their renewed guarantee?
Is it wise to invest in "old" tech when "new" and probably more future proof tech can be had for same money?
Am not sure am techy minded enough to get an Enigma type box up and running(could just be laziness!)
Anyone bought items using "renewed" Amazon guarantee?
