Is Hitachi PD5000 a step backward?

    Last weekend I had a rare chance to see a 42PD3000 and a 42PD5200 side by side.
    They were connected to the same DVD source (together with a few other panels) via S-Video and a splitter that certainly did not contribute to the overall quality.

    Still, the PD3000 was visibly better, and the technician, specifically asked, was not able to fine-tune color etc and eventually had to admit that the older set was much better.
    Specifically, colors were more natural, images less noisy on the 3000, while the 5200 had very visible 8 bit sampling artifacts/solarization.

    Anyone had the same impression?
