Is Google Checkout safe - opinions please?

Google has just launched its uk checkout system. What are your opinions on its security?

well considering it's run by one of the top 3 web companies in the world, I'd guess it's pretty good. It's hardly some tin pot operation. I also doubt they are willing to commit PR suicide.

Well only the test of time will truly answer the question. But with spend £30, save £10 (ebuyer, ends June 11) I just had to take the plunge. Payment went through next day and it has been apparently smooth

might use it just the once for this opening offer (as you first posted about a few days back ) ... but as for subsequent use ... as I replied ... Americans over at DVD Talk always go on about the occasional good deal to be had through Google Checkout; and they also go on about problems (refunds for faulty/wrong/undelivered items take ages; can't track orders in the same way as logging into your account with a retailer; etc) possibly of use for the odd bargain, if not already cheaper through discount codes (HotUKDeals) Quidco cashback, etc

Yup, the Google checkout system does (as well as your billing and shipping address) - and you log in with your google/gmail details at any merchant that uses the google checkout (at the payment stage)
