I just bought a Gamecube for 79.99 with luigi and a memory card from Argos, then bought a madcatz SVHS lead which will not work with the gamecube but works fine with my N64.
Is there a problem with my gamecube or does it not output SVHS as in the manual it only mentions video out and RGB out

The PAL version Gamecube does not output S-Video so you will have to use, RGB Scart, Component Video or Composite Video :).

Please excuse my ignorance, but where can you get a Gamecube component cable? I have done a moderate amount of searching, but can't find one.

They are not available in the UK High Steet. Nintendo only released the Component Cable in the US and Japan. You can import one quite easily. Choose from one of the following:

    http://www.ncsx.com
    http://www.tronixweb.com
    http://www.lik-sang.com

God! That must be the quickest reply in the history of the forums!

Does this mean that you need an imported 'cube, or will these cables work with UK spec machines?

    I've seen quicker .

You don't need an import Cube - the PAL Cube supports Component Video output in the exact same way :).

    Evidently ;)

Thanks for the help. I may have to buy one, seeing as they are now relatively cheap. Are Argoss still the cheapest/best deal?

I have a £30 off voucher for a Gamecube which you can gladly have for £10, and thus save yourself £20 in the process ;). The voucher came with the GBA SP and all you have to do is send it off with your Gamecube Till receipt, and those lovely people at Nintendo send you back a cheque for £30.
