Is everyone experiencing lipsync problems?

I don't see many people mentioning it so I was wondering whether everyone is suffering from lipsync problems with the HD-DVD drive? I know it's been reported elsewhere but I don't see anyone on here really mentioning it as an issue. I'm wondering whether my screen (Q321) is making the issue worse as it's pretty bad on mine, especially with TrueHD tracks.

Cheers

Never seen them myself but others have reported them, the problems definately exist.. we need to wait for the update that's due (that fixes DD+ and adds DTS, etc.) to see if they either fix it or add an option to modify the audio delay.

Any idea when the update is due?

But surely everyone should see a lipsync problem if there was a problem with the 360 software? That's why I'm wondering whether my screen is making it worse (although I've never had lipsync issues before on it despite it being a well publicised issue with the Q321). Anyone else get a lipsync problem, particularly on TrueHD?

I did on BB using True HD but since then all has been OK.

I'm sure I read a post somewhere about it possibly being dependant on how you choose the sound format that affects the lip-sync. ie. pause and select sound then play, or change whilst playing ...

I'd try having a play see if this makes any difference? As said above though it does seem to be pretty rare, so it shouldn't happen to all your discs?

Do you get lip-sync playing a SD DVD through your Xbox or even the HD-Drive, with out changing anything else?

Yes it does have some lipsync issues. Mine wasn't miles out on King Kong but it's there alright. I'm using a projector and an amp but any delays should be cancelled out by the amp. They are with all the other dvd kit that runs through the amp but not the 360. So it must be an issue with the software but different people will see different levels of it dependent on screen and rig.

Ive only had HD DVD for 24hrs (ts files are my bag), but the issues I have are different to lip-sync. What i mean is this, the sounds just sounds OFF comapred to whats on the screen. Its like the sound is too far up front (like the center speaker needs calibrating again)????

Do you know what I mean?

Is it because is 5.1+ ??

I used to be a BIG DTS LaserDISK collector so I know a good sound track when I hear one. And Im happy to have a nice DD sound track with less compression (thank god), but i may have to purchase the NEW video essentials disk for HD content to calibrate my system for HD.

Anyone have the new HD VE disk?

Waiting on the HD DVE disc myself ... think it was only £7 from HMV online.. (or close to that) :D

There's been a lot of discussion about the sound from the HD-DVD addon, it is basically not good enough, MS are working on it. And there should be a update soon...ish!

(new update will re-encode DD+ to DTS instead of DD which it does now... badly!)

Yes I'll agree with that, the sound was very poor.

Will the hd dvd of dve calibrate a display more accurately than the sd version? I've seen it a few places for about £7 and wondered whether it's worth getting.

No Idea TBH :D

I presume it'll make some difference, and as it's half the price of the SD version??? Why not get it!
