All phosphor based display devices are suceptible to burn in, be they plasma, crt monitors and tv's, front or rear projector.

In proper set up of front panel controls is usual culprit. In proper use, once set up well, it's unlikely you'll get burn in unless you are one for watching Sky News all day....or another channel with a logo in top corner. Ifyou had contrast turned up on your normal TV and left it on a channel like that you'd trash it too.

The only burnt plasma's I've seen have been in public installations where they have had static images being burnt in to them all day, 24 hrs a day every day... not clever....

I'm pretty sure there is NO plasma manu' who'll cover screen burn in their warranty - i.e. Pana/Fujitsu/NEC/Sony/Philips don't. And if screen burn does occur it's irrepairable, though some minor forms can be corrected or made less obvious.
Many people think a plasma is just like a big pc monitor that can take the same sort of use/abuse and it's not the case.

DLP and LCD projectors DO NOT suffer from burn-in. But CRT projectors can have burn-in issues.
