I have a Yamaha YST- SW80 and I am buying a new amplifier and I am wondering will a new sub add that much difference. Considering my room size being only 13ft by 13ft. With the sound being just base how can it sound better, only by volume. I should go to a sound shop to hear, but I hope you will give me some advice. If I do buy a new one it will be between 500 to 800 pounds.
    Cheers to your help,
    Phill

A decent sub is an essential part of the AV package.

You need a sub that can go low down but also produce tight, fast bass not boom which is what quite a few produce unfortunately.

For your budget have a look at REL & M&K for starters.

At your price level you will notice a considerable improvement in bass if you upgrade. The physically larger REL W or ST subs are very good and there are several enthusiastic Paradigm Servo 15 owners here, but those fellas are big
