Is a 4ft X 4ft screen big enough for a decent sized image?

    HELLO

UNFORTUNATELY I CAN'T COMMENT ON THE SCREEN SIZE (ALTHOUGH IT SOUNDS BIG TO ME) BUT I HAVE LOOKED AT THAT SANYO PROJECTOR. IS IT ANY GOOD?

I would say that that was a bit small unless you were going to be sitting only 8 feet away from the screen.

You can get much bigger screens than that, or you can make one using wood with curtain blackout cloth cloth stretched and stapled across it. My DIY screen is 84 x 47.25 ins and cost me £28 including all materials.

The PLV Z1 is a good projector for the money, so you should get a good image on any half decent screen. How big are you currently projecting?

How big is your room, and how far will you be sitting from the screen?

    Gary.

Surely, if you have already got the Z1 and you are projecting it on to your wall, you can zoom in/out to a 4ft image? You can then decide if the image looks big enough from where you’re sitting.

Why are you looking at 4ft x 4ft, thought the Z1 was 16:9?

    Cornelius.

Retro was correct, I was at work yesterday and my keboard is broken as the caps lock can not be removed. I did put an apology at the bottom of most of my posts, but I must have forgotten in this instance.:(

However I do find it equaly strange/annoying when people reply to posts, and make no point at all, what do you think?

I appologise for any SHOUTING yesterday.

    Cheers

    Rob

    NO BIG DEAL;)

But seriously, sometimes there's an urge to put in one's 2 pence worth!

Right now we're discussing something that's completely irrelvant to poor hopdylan's question!

    So here's my 2p worth:

hopdylan, if the screen is going to cost you more than £30 then don't bother.
Make one the size you want as Gary suggested (it's easier than you may think).
Do a search for 'DIY screen' here or over the pond ( www.avsforum.com ).
I've had excellent results in the past with blackout material and would be looking for at least 80" diagnol if you can fit it.

    CKA.

    Hi,

Thanks for everyones feedback (even if the thread did go a little off topic;) )

I would go for the DIY option but unfortunately I need a mobile stand (with tripod) as I'm not able to fix a screen to the wall or ceiling (i rent and won't be there much longer) so i'm ideally looking for a cheap, free-standing screen
