Hey everyone, fairly new here but been reading posts for a while now.

I'm planning to get a Toshiba 37WLT66 after chrimbo providing JL will do me a good pricematch. Anyway, I measured up the room yesterday and from where we sit it is about 8-9ft to where the TV would be.

I'll be using it to start with, with just Sky+ but very soon after a HDMI DVD and then hopefully SkyHD and an XBox360.

Do you think the distance will be good enough for standard pictures as well as HD?

    Thx!

I also sit around this distant and am considering a 37 - 40 " LCD but not sure whether a 32 " would be fine what are the best distances for the respective sizes ?

I suggest taking a tape measure to the shop and seeing for yourself. Use Sky+ as your reference as its the lowest quality source you mention.

You also need to be aware that when watching TV at home you are watching what is broadcast rather than concentrating on the defects. I am sure that even at distances further than you mention you may well see defects if you concentrate hard, but will these be a real life problem?

Thanks guys. I went into Currys on my way home and they had 3x 37WLT66 on show. I stood about what I thought was 8-9ft and it was fine. One was playing a DVD on 2 Fast 2 Furious and it looks cack when closer up but standing back it looked alright, no bluring or anything.

Think I'll have to get a HDMI DVD player as well :D

    Christmas bonus :lease:

I have a Sony 46" X series and have just moved home to a much smaller place.
I now sit abot 7 feet from the set and find it just right.
