I want to buy all the 24 series on dvd as I've never watched the show however I was wondering whether its likely they'll release it on HDDVD/Bluray when the drives are about? I'm happy to wait as there is alot of good telly on at the moment.

    Cheers, Nick.

No doubt it will be released in HiDef but at £16 per season its rude not to pick up this excellent show now.

Hi Indiana. Where can you get the sets for £16? I know Play are doing them for £17.99 but £16 is a steal imo.

Amazon Jersey are doing Seasons 1-3 for £15.99 each and you can get Season 4 for £16.99 from Amazon.co.uk

I have never been bothered with 24 but I had last week off work so got Season 1 and before I had even finished watching it I had ordered Season 2-4

My mate in work has never seen 24 but I know he wants to (I do keep on to him enough about how good it is :D ). At that price I think he'll get the first season and, well, you know what he'd do next ;)

I've enoyed every season of 24 and collect DVD boxsets but never had a desire to own the show in it's best format or even rewatch it on broadcast TV.
The joy of 24 is simply not knowing what they hell is going to happen next and while you can say the same for many shows 24 just does it so well and for me all impact would be lost if I watched them again.

For those without SKY or an irrational hatred of adverts in the show (which I can't quite understand) the DVD bargins are great news:)

I realy feared this too but having left it a few years i've just finished S1 and am 4 eps from the end of S2.

Whilst it may (obviously) not be as good as first time round it's still stunning.

Sure, you know what's gonna happen, some things i couldn't remember but they came back to me as they happened.

24 repeats are still better than 99% of other stuff on tv:thumbsup:

What exactly is irrational about hating adverts?, I would say it's your view thats the irrational one. Do you love an advert for toothpaste breaking up the flow and tension of the show completely!. 24 is one show that really suffers badly from having ad breaks, the creator of the show has even said the only true way to watch the show is without ad breaks disrupting the action numerous times.

    :smashin: :smashin: absolutely

Just like Ch4/E4 with Desperate Housewives and Lost, totally effing annoying!!!! The only solution to which is downloading at time of broadcast, DVD or BBC.

24 is the perfect DVD product!!

No what I mean is that most UK viewers have been raised with adverts and in the case of 24 it was made for advert driven television. Now if those people never watched any commercial ad drive telly in line with their stance on 24 then I would be seriously impressed but I suspect they do put up with adverts or use a VHS/DVR and while I've stated I like 24 watched every ep so far it's not that different from a lot of other action/suspense dramas.

Of course no adverts is the best way be it on the BBC or DVD but those that claim they will not watch the show due to the adverts that is beyond me:)

thats what put me off Lost (and I'm a Freeview not Sky person, so 24 will always be download/DVD for me) - on Ch4 and E4.. those 118118 'kers every flippin' 10 minutes or so.. I just switched off, and had the US boxset as soon as it was released!!

Anyway think I'm going to wait and see as I say I have a lot of recorded telly to get through at the moment.

Yeah I was a downloader and then DVD importer of the show.
I did read a lot of complaints about the ad placement and frequency during LOST and I believe CH4 did get a slapping:)

Regarding the Hi-Def part of the thread ;) I think you'll find 24 is filmed on 35mm which means all 5 seasons could be output in and there's a good chance it's broadcast in HD in the US!?!?!?

Yep the US love their pre-empts and breaks to spread a show out over 9 months.
