    I've had a Sony VW11HT for 3months, and initially bought a
6ft 1.5 gain draper screen for £180 to go with it.

I've just put an area of blackout blind material over the the
screen to see if the extra gain was washing the dark areas of the picture out in that area... and it seema that it is!

Is it going to be worth the outlay (approx £1400) to get a
Stewartscreen Greyhawk instead. Will it really bring out shadow detail?

Don't get me wrong, the projector is great, but I just think maybe I'm currently putting remoulded tyres on a Formula 1 car. What do you think?

    Defenetly...

The sony pj is rated at 1000 ansi lumen. Even without the 1.5 gain screen the brightess is certainly enough. I actually think 500-600 lumen is quite sufficient in order to display a movie in a dark room. Bright levels above this will only contribute to the feeling of black actually being grey.....

From the responses I heard, the Stewart has been given great reviews. It succeds in giving the darkerareas more detail and deeper blacks. If it's worth the money? Well, you tend to change your pj after a few years, but a good screen will last longer....If I had bought a 11ht, I would feed on bread and water for a month and then go out and get my greyhawk.

If you don't feel that way, I recommend you on getting 1.0 gain screen instead of your current one

    Thanks,

My wallet is saying "oh no!". But I'll probably be taking your advice.

    Thanks again.

Where's the best place to buy a greyhawk (price wise)?
