Irq conflict?

Hi,
Since resetting my cmos and flashing bios etc to get a new processor to work,my system sometimes does not boot or hangs up.
In system there is the conflict of the graphics card sharing irq 11 with the sound card but when i click on each of them it says device working properly.I do not use the internal modem any more on irq 10.Is it possible to alter the sound card to use irq 10 and disable the modem(already done) to resolve this conflict which sometimes happens?
I have tried to do this but it does not let me alter the irq setting so is it possible?

Turn PnP OS to off in the BIOS.

Ok, in that case reserve an IRQ in the BIOS for the slot that your sound card is using.

Alternatively move the sound card to another PCI slot (perhaps as far away from the graphics card as possible). It assigns IRQ's based on the slot position, I believe.

sorry, you lost me with that one.Could you explain how i go about that?

goto IRQ assignments in the BIOS, and change it from Auto to Manual, and then set the slot to use whatever IRQ you have free.

And don't forget, the above is in the manual.....which of course i assume you've read...

Have looked at manuel before and nothing as technical as that in it.it lists bios settings but not altering them or what they do.will try suggestions though.
