I've found the quality of video created by programs like Videora, still appear blocky and pixellated in dark scenes or the black borders of widescreen transfers.
What programs are you using and what settings give the most beautiful picture ?

Using "Instant Handbrake" on a Mac, have to say have been very impressed with the results, certainly not blocky at all. Only problem it has is a known one of not being able to cope with dts encoding, it just crashes out of memory.

Personally I use SuperC as you can alter virtually everything from aspect ratio to encoding quality and best of all it can convert any video type to any video type and the same for audio also. Plus its completely free (google it)

    Hi,

sorry bout the delay in replying.

Yep I find it really easy to use as there is a ipod setting anyway but you can tweak this to get what you want i.e. higher vid bitrate etc...

I use recode 2 in the nero 7 package. absolutely brilliant!
lots of advanced settings if you want to use them and the best result i've seen by far.

I use Nero Recode 2 for video files on my PC, and Total Video Converter for 'DVD to iPod' conversions.
