can anyone help my ipod has frozen. it is just over a year old
so no warranty
The Apple support website is a good first step to look for help for an iPod that doesn't work properly:
for most iPod models, but;
for iPod shuffles.
Here's some help you might like to step through (mostly summarized from the iPod support site):
1 If your iPod wont turn on or play, check the hold switch. Sliding the Hold switch between the on and off position can reset unresponsive controls.
2 If you are using the iPod remote you can try to remove the remote, and plug it back in. Dont forget to check the remotes hold switch. The remote has its own hold switch on the side.
3 Make sure that the iPod is fully charged. If it isnt fully charged, connect the iPod to an AC charger or to a computer that is on.
4 If your iPod freezes, press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears. You should have to hold the buttons down for about 6 to 10 seconds.
5 Restore the iPod using the latest version of iPod software (available free from the Apple website).
6 Update iTunes to the latest version (available free from the Apple website).
7 Try to connect the iPod to a different port on your computer.
8 Connect the iPod to a different computer if you have access to another.
Having said all that, usually iPod problems are resolved with a simple reset (step 4). This is because they are - after all - computerized devices, and occasionally (like ordinary computers) they need to be reset.
Best of luck, and keep us posted.
