    Hi

This is possibly a common problem and has been asked a million times before but I couldn't find it in a search.

My iPhone (4S) seems to think the headphones are plugged in, eg when I put the volume up or down it assumes it's the headphone volume.

This means I'm not getting any sound from apps but more importantly I can't hear anything whilst making a call.

There'all sorts of half useless info from a quick Google but I thought this was a more useful place to ask for help.

I've switched the phone off and on several times and plugged/unplugged headphones several times.

There doesn't seem to anything in the socket to give a false reading.

Is there a quick fix to this problem or should I just take a trip into town and pass my phone to the good folks at the Genius Bar?

Thanks for any help or replies.....

The problem seems to be going away a bit (is now intermittent) which suggests it probably is something to do with dampness now drying.

Now I think of it, I think it has probably got slightly wet recently as I use a cycling app a lot and have got caught in the rain a few times recently.

Time to invest in a LifeProof waterproof case, or similar, I think.

Put it in some rice and it will be ok the rice takes out the moisture.
