    Hi,

My iPhone 5’s earpiece has stopped working (apparently the casing isn’t tight enough to hold it in place) and upon taking it to the Genius Bar they said the best long term solution would be to swap the phone. Fine i said, it’s a brand new phone isn’t it? Cue long pause before the guy admitted it would be a ‘new phone but with some refurbished parts’.

Can they do this under the sale of goods act? Or can i insist on a brand new model (my phone is less than 6 months old after all)

    Ta in advance

    Yea it'll be a refurb
All new outter parts but some parts inside are refurbed.

The refurbed parts will only be 6 months old too.

You couldn't tell the difference between a refurb and a new handset.

Take the refurb mate, the refurbs are like brand new honestly you couldn't tell the difference..right now there probably not even refurbs there just new phones off the line in a refurb box, and Typically you will end up with an extended warranty to what you currently have.

Really? You put it in the apple warranty checker? I got a refurb and put it in the checker and had a fresh 12 month warranty.

Standard policy is you get whatever is left on your current 12 month warranty or 90 days warranty on the replacement, which ever is the longest left.
