One of my mates is on his way to Hong Kong for a few weeks, so I've asked him to have a look at some iphones for me and get one if the price is right.

Do they sell iphones this way in Hong Kong, or are they locked into certain mobile carriers like in the UK?

Would a Hong Kong iphone work in this country?

Is there anything else I should be worried about?

    Any info greatly appreciated

I believe there twice the price as those sold in the UK, and most Chinese go with China branded merchandise hence the cost of them.
Not worth it imo, get a UK one you know your safe then.

Got my 1st generation Iphone from Bangkok last May, in an electronics centre, the guy opened the sealed package in front of me and jailbroke it and it's worked perfectly ever since on my Tmobile sim. It cost me £300 at the time, but he gave £180 part exchange for my viewty phone and Itouch, so all in all I was very happy
