Iphone, airport express and HT?

OK here goes...please be gentle!! I propose to do the following to play music wirelessly from iphone to Sony HT. Airport express connected to home network and Sony DAV HT via optical. Control and play spotify music directly from my iphone connected to airport on wifi? From what I have read I think this is possible. Any thoughts?

AFAIK you'll need iTunes 10.3+ running somewhere to be the 'go between' from iPhone to Airport Express. Otherwise, yep, that's how Airplay is supposed to work.

Cheers for that. Should I be able to control volume from iphone too?
