but investors still concerned, long term
Apple has hailed its Chinese launch of the iPhone 5 as a great success following their announcement that they'd manage to shift more than 2 million units in its first weekend.
The numbers make it the most successful iPhone launch ever in China but investors are still concerned that Apple faces increasingly tough competition in the smartphone market and shares in the company fell 3.8 per cent on Friday.
"Customer response to iPhone 5 in China has been incredible, setting a new record with the best first weekend sales ever in China," Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said in a statement.
This is the first time Apple has announced China sales numbers for the iPhone which probably goes to show how seriously Cupertino is taking the markets' concerns.
