My iPhone 4 which I purchased on the day of release - seems to turn itself off randomly and when it does it is unresponsive for 5-15 minutes this tends to happen most when I leave it in the glovebox of my car.

When this happens I cannot seem to turn it back on - only on the umpteenth time of quickly preesing home and on together will it eventually respond and come back on again.

Anyone else had this? is there nothing for it but return to Apple? I bought it from the Apple store so what do you think there response will be? will they give me a new one there and then?

What firmware are you on?

Mine was on 4.0.1 and had a lot of similar issues to you, now i'm on 4.1 its been OK.
4.2 is now out also.

Check iPhone firmware version

* Tap on “Settings”
* Tap on “General”
* Select “About”
* Look for “Version” and the numbers next to this will be your firmware
