As title, iPhone 3GS 32Gb in Black on the Three network.

    This has some minor damage...

Crack on bottom right rear corner and a chip next to the power button on the top. I have tried to photograph these as best as I can (see below). The screen also has a small patch of 'clouding' that can be seen (just about!) in the photographs.

The screen itself is in good unscratched condition as it's had a protector on all its life. The charger port has no cracks, nor does the headphone socket, mute or volume controls. Centre button works fine and still feels nice and 'clicky' if you catch my drift!

I've had this looked at in CEX and passed as a C grade phone.

Comes with a new USB charger and lead, unboxed but will be packeged well.

    Looking for £75 plus delivery.

    Price and currency: £75
Delivery: Delivery cost is not included
    Payment method: BT please!
    Location: Wakefield

Hi. I genuinely did not know any of these issues. Like I said on thread, I knew it was a C grade phone and CEX passed the phone as such. My concern now is that the phone has been taken apart (without seeking guidance/clarification that this would be ok as a refund was being sought) and as such I'm guessing is now worthless. If the phone would've been left 'as is' I'd have happily offered a refund as I could've taken the phone into CEX. As it's been taken apart, I doubt that will be possible now.

I'm not being @rsey about this, just a bit miffed that this course of action was taken before talking to me!

I didn't want to publish this publicly due to my investigative actions, however I'm happy to discuss this openly if required. Hence the request for guidance prior to engaging in discussion with the OP.

To add, I'm not sure the screen was coming out of the casing as suggested - please look at the images on the thread to support this.

I'm happy to discuss this openly on thread, I don't want anyone thinking I've got something to hide. If the phone was dodgy, I promise I did not know before it was sent.

Not sure exactly what that could mean, besides the fact like I said, I'm now left with a phone that's pretty much worthless after your 'investigative actions'!

Mate, Understand your point completely, however give the issue i needed to understand if i could get it sorted easily and without cost.

Now being pragmatic, i concious that the battery could have blow out (possibly) whilst in the post and i'm always willing to give AVF members the benefit of the doubt, especially when you have done as many trade/ deals as I have.

I can replace the battery but that would be expense I wasn't expecting given i was buying a working phone.

As a side note, the screen also had a large and obvious dark spot on it which could have been done by the battery explosion push the logic board against the LCD.

Having looked at the photo's supplied by @snow_patrol within the thread i don't see the screen 'bulging out the casing' if i'm honest. I do see the shadow on the middle of the screen, but this was declared within the description.

What is the course of action you are looking for @thattallchap ?

Totally understand what you're saying mate, but if you were not 100% about this, you should've contacted me sooner rather than taking the phone apart THEN pursuing a refund.

I know I'm not a high street retailer, but if you have an issue with a product on the high street, you surely take it back before rolling your sleeves up and getting stuck in!

I mentioned the dark spot early doors too, if any alarm bells were ringing, you shouldn't have taken the phone.

I have to agree with @snow_patrol, you should not have taken the phone apart. It should have been reported before you took it apart.
I understand you wanted to try and check it out but this effectively a scrap phone. I can see the pictures supplied by @snow_patrol , not the clearest but show the phone in a working state.

If you two can come to some sort of compromise, then all fine, but i cannot rule in favour of a refund for a phone that's been taken apart.

Guys. As stated in the PM that was why I was asking for guidance and I didn't want this posted in a public forum. Mark I didn't want to ask for a refund as I wanted a unit for the car so a repair job was something I was happy to do if it meant less hassle to all parties and this sort of discussion.

Just as a side note, I have just looked at the photos more closely and noticed that no shot of the phone working is taken without the charger in.

If Snow_p can stand me the cost of a replacement battery. I'm happy to fit it and forget the issue.

You did state in the conversation that you were seeking guidance on whether a request for a refund would be supported. That felt like the next step would be asking for a refund. Like I said, if you'd have come to me first, I'd have sorted a refund with you, but like wildkardde pointed out, it's effectively a scrap phone now.
