Has anyone got/tried the new ipaq 2210. It looks just what I want with SD and CF sockets and bluetooth built in. Just need to add a wi-fi card and its spot on. Also the remote control software is built in and I've heard its OK. Is it? Does anyone know if it will understand pronto ccf's?

    Cheers

    Dave

    Hello,

I bought the 2210 about a month ago mostly for GPS but I do use it as a remote control.

The built in nevo software is good as long as your device is listed or you have the device codes, there's no facility to learn from another remote. Nevo doesn't use CCF files.

I've bought PDAWin for this and the new version 5.5 works great, haven't tried CCF mode yet, thought they looked a bit complicated! :)

    Regards,
    Mo.

Also what's the range like on the IR emitter? Does it have the "long range" infrared capability of other models such as the 3970?

I'm looking for the cheapest way to get decent IR performance (for remote control purposes) and wireless lan connectivity so I can surf the net. Dell Axims don't fit the bill as I don't want to have to swap CF cards to access the net.

Can anyone with one of these confirm that it works OK as a remote control ? If so I think I'll get one

I've been doing some searching around and found this
    Ipaq 2210 review
There are link off this page to a handhelds forum. It appears it has a "cosunsumer-grade Ir" and I've seen quotes from people in the forum that it works up to 50 feet. It also has learning capabilities so I think I would be happy with this as a remote.
