    Hey all,

I'm looking for a cheap tablet for the kids to watch videos on for a long flight, and maybe play some basic Lego games on.

I've not had a tablet before, so not sure what I need. I see the old iPad 1 is available for about £164 near me: iPad mini - Buy iPad mini 16GB with Free Shipping - Apple Store (Thailand)

For that price I could get two £80 Acer or Asus android tablets. Although the iPad looks much nicer, would it be too old to do much on?

How shoddy would those cheap android tabs be? I've got an entry-level Moto G android phone and its OK but quite slow and frustrating at times.

Obviously two android would placate two kids more effectively than one iPad, but would the cheap android tablets end up being more trouble than they are worth?

    Thanks!

Which particular android tablets were you considering for that money?

They will be cheap cheerful and probably a bit slow but should let you watch videos and play Lego games. If the flights a long one I'd say your main concerns will be:

Storage for enough content to last the flight
Battery life (unless the flight has power on board)

No use having a tablet on a 12 hour flight if it's only good for 5 hours of it for either reason.

Thanks. I was thinking about the low end Acer Aconia or Asus Memopad:

Yes, I will check if the flight has USB ports. The last one did but not sure which plane this will be.

Might invest in a battery pack too!
