Android losing Ground - according to survey
Apple's iOS is forging ahead of the Android platform for enterprise development, according to results from a survey conducted for Appcelerator, the mobile platform development company.
Appcelerator developers were asked what operating system is best positioned to win the enterprise market and the devs chose iOS over Android by a 53% to 38% margin which is significantly different from the last survey conducted that had them neck and neck at 44% each. The often ignored Windows 8 should take heart from the fact 33% of the developers polled said they would be interested to develop for it
Apple is a consumer centric app in the eyes of developers, said Appcelerators Director of Enterprise Strategy, Michael King.
Apple has also put more emphasis on supporting the enterprise through better security. They have worked closely with mobile device management companies such as Mobile Iron, SAP Afaria and Symantecs Nukone.
Two-thirds of those surveyed are making apps for their own company or a business customer.
