Appreciate it's in Beta, and you accept a risk when downloading, I have always been ok in the past, not this time though!
Has broken Google Home, Hue, and Internet Banking no longer works, cannot wait for the full version to come out, sadly I am unable to roll back :(

I'm running the public beta and in the main its been fine. Your issues seem to be down to the fact that the apps havent been updated to work with it which is always to be expected. I've found that the Sky Q app is working to an extent but live streaming isnt working whilst Sky Go does work but only after its failed once, you force close the app then try again.

Like the new CarPlay set up which is the main reason i updated.

Why are you unable to roll back? Even if you didn’t back up your phone in iTunes before installing iOS13 you can still roll back to iOS12 - you’d have to set your phone up from new again but it can be done (I’ve done it with mine)

yes, I’ve got the beta on my iPhone Xʀ but don’t do betas on the watch (Series 4 cellular) which is on 5.3 without any issues between them.

Yeah, I have it on my iPad Pro, and ended up putting it on my iPhone yesterday in the end as I wanted to try out the new version of CarPlay (which is very nice, just wish there was dual screen support for the virtual cockpit in my car).
Won’t be putting the beta on my watch

I have iOS 13 PB4 on my XS Max with no major problems. I don’t usually run betas but really needed FaceTime & iMessage on both lines so decided to give it a try. Won’t bother on my iPad though, happy to wait until September release.

Will banking apps work on the betas on the iPhones?

Nationwide and RBS work fine. Lloyds sometimes crashes on opening but then works fine on second or third attempts. This is on XS Max running PB4.

Halifax does work, exactly as @Lyn2012 describes (understandably so, as they are actually the same app). First open crashes back to home screen, an immediate second open will work.

Probably easier for you to say which ones you use, most banking apps work, but I’m sure some might not.

I've just had an email from Apple telling me the public beta is now available. Is anyone else participating in the public beta and how do you find it, is it stable etc? Thanks.

I’ve been running public betas for a couple of weeks and have found it stable. However Mail isn’t perfect and iMessage working on both lines worked for a while then stopped again. You sign up for it here Apple Beta Software Program , then a profile is downloaded and installed on your device and you can get public beta updates over the air.

It is safer to do an iTunes encrypted backup, and archive it, before installing beta software. Then if you wish to revert to iOS 12, you can restore from archived backup. This is on a Mac, I don’t know about Windows iTunes. Anyway, I hope this helps.

I've been on it for a while and had no major issues. Few niggles where i've had to force close apps and Mail is a bit iffy at times.

Did have a problem with Maps but it was strange, i updated one of the Public Betas and Maps was fine for a couple of days then it stopped working in CarPlay where if you started a route it then crashed after a few seconds. Then a few days later with no other update it just started working again. I can only think it was something at Apples end with Maps on their servers.

Hi guys, is the 5th BETA pretty stable? I’m desperate to give it a go but what’s the crack with apps like Spotify, google maps, sky news, twitter, met office, EE working?

I see Halifax is working ish now. As that’s essential for me.

It’s stable, but if you have an Apple Watch you may want to give it a miss, it’s draining the battery pretty fast for some reason.

I don’t use Spotify (Apple Music user) but I haven’t found anything that doesn’t work so far (after I was corrected above about Halifax needing to be opened twice to run)

I would, my series 4 was at under 10% at 7pm this evening. I had put it on at around 8:30 am and I’d spent the afternoon sat in the tattooist’s chair, so not exactly high usage today.

I’m currently wearing my series 2 (since just after 7pm) and it is already down to 56% and all I’ve done is cook and eat dinner, been sat on the sofa for most of the time I’ve been wearing it

I have an iPhone Xʀ and a Series 4 cellular Watch and have no discernible additional drain on the watch on the betas when compared to iOS 12, currently the phone is on iOS 13 DB6 and the watch on WatchOS 5.3.

It’s the public beta 5 that’s causing the drain for people. I should have clarified

Yeah I would be on the public beta so will have to wait for now.... (impatiently!)

Are you running the watch beta also?

Nope, I’ll likely wait for the full release for my watch.

Dev 6 release seems to fix the draining of Apple Watch.
Public beta is generally always one behind so should be out later this week.

AIUI, DB6 and PB5 are the same version, the reason for the different number is that the developer beta has a single release before public beta ie. DB2 = PB1.

Checking at MacRumors and both DB6 and PB5 are build 17A5556d.

I have a suspicion that maybe the watch battery draining could actually be an issue for those people who have also installed the WatchOS beta on their watches (something I never do and wouldn’t recommend to anyone to do either).

I never use the watch beta either but suffered battery issues on the watch which are now resolved on latest iOS phone dev beta.

So if they’re the same then why on earth is the watch draining on the public one?

Not all users are complaining about drain, it could be down to something as simple as an app that isn’t yet fully iOS 13 compatible (or possibly even watchOS 6) causing issues which manifest as a battery drain.

It’s probably worth reading the various beta threads on MacRumors to get a better idea.
