Basically I have had the ' Invalid SIM card ' message instead of the 'Orange 3G' label on my Iphone 4s several times.

I bought it from Carphone Wharehouse on 23rd October 2011. I returned to the store only to be told that this is a warranty issue and is not covered by the insurance. I was told to make an appointment with an Apple Store and get a new one from them as the Apple Store would do ' diagonistic tests' on it.

Any ideas as to the ' Invalid SIM card' message please?

This worked for me....your mileage may vary.

    1. sync with itunes to save data
    2. disconnect from itunes and remove sim
    3. reset phone to manufacturer (delete everything)
    4. set as new phone (instead of using a backup)
    5. put sim back when asked
    5. sync with itunes

I reset the phone but my Itunes music no longer works on my Iphone. I see the albums but I cannot play them.

Everything is still backed up in Itunes.

    Any ideas please?

I have tried all this yesterday but today I got ' Invalid Sim' again.

Is this a problem with my Iphone and do I need a new one from Apple as replacement?

I would also like to know if there is a fix to this, bought a new 4S from Apple and sent to friend in Cyprus, it's been fine for last 3 months but over the last couple of weeks it has shown invalid sim every couple of days.

Basically I tried to fix the Iphone 4s using the above methods but they did not work for me. Eventually I took it to an Apple Store in Regent Street and they swapped it for a brand new one.

The phone has been fine since then.

Is there a guaranteed solution to this?

My wife and I both got new iphone 4s in the last few days, mine is on t-mobile and works fine but my wife got one on orange and put a brand new micro sim in it that came supplied from orange.

It worked for a few hours and now regularly shows invalid sim error.

Should I still try a restore and if this fails is there anything else i can try?
