I need a new alternator so can anyone advise on decent shops or internet sites for a new unit ?
I just go to my local independant motor supplies shop. Take the old one in for an exchange discount.
My local one tried to sell me a new battery that wasn't suitable , Ford use Silver Calcium batteries , he'd never heard of them , so I'm reluctant to even trust them .
Have you looked at yell.com for a local auto electrician? I had an alternator refurbished by one a few years ago, though he was in the south of the city (Garston)
New ford unit? Do you mean replacement or new?
I looked on Ebay and found a shop near me in manchester, happy for me to go in, so I did and part ex'd the faulty unit for a re-con for 38 quid!
Was still working a treat 18 months later when the car was written off last november...
You could try GSF or EuroCarParts - they can often supply parts not listed on the website, so worth a call to a local branch if you can't see what you're looking for.
GSF Car Parts are one of the UK?s leading independent suppliers of cheap car parts for VW, Audi, Saab, Seat, Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Porsche and Citroen, Peugeot and Renault vehicles.
Euro Car Parts UK - European Car Parts
New or re-con , NOT from Ford though at £239.99
Thanks but my model year is not shown .
Got a link at all ?
