The Phenom for autocad/illustrator/photoshop, the i5 for gaming currently.

Phenom II X6 1055T and 1090T review

The i5 is about 50% faster in memory read and writes due to the triple-channel capability. I'd have thought this was more crucial for autocad/photoshop than anything else. Granted CPU grunt also helps, but there's nothing quite like a fast read/write to memory.

Bench - CPU - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News

Compares the two CPU's for processign on Photoshop and other apps. The Intel was ahead of the AMD at stock speeds for Photoshop.

You could be right! I was just looking at the raw memory read/writes of the AMD vs I5/i7 and the i5 was much nearer the i7 than the AMD and was 50% faster than the AMD. But it looks like it is dual channel. My incorrect assumption from the raw data.
