Insurance replacement for Pany 36 wide CRT

Standard Member

My insurance company is replacing my old but Fantastic Panasonic CRT (TX-W36D3DPU ).
They have offered me Panasonic TH37PX70B Plasma (Empire price £950). Damn, I paid £1600 for the CRT 7 years ago.

I would like as much screen real estate that I can possibly get with quality being the biggest factor.
I will be using it for:

XBOX 360 elite (HDMI)
Nintendo Wii ( not sure how yet)
Cable box via Scart ( soon to upgrade to V+ with HDMI)
Pansonic DVD HDD Recorder (HDMI)
PS3 maybe soon to replace DVD recorder.

I'm thinking I want a 1080p LCD upto £1000, as the plasma I would want cost over 2K (Pioneer 8 series or 1080p Pany)
The options EmpireDirect are offering are:

Samsung LE40M87BDX £900 ( My prefered choice)
Toshiba 42X3030DB £900 ( more screen size)
Sharp L42XD1E £900 (more screen size)
Philips 42PFL7662D (More screen size with good reviews)

I could even spend another £350 and get the Samy 46 m87, not sure if i really want to put that much in as that amount can buy me the PS3.

Is the Samsung LE40M87BDX the pick of the bunch bearing in mind I will be comparing with my old CRT (rest in peace CRT:()

You have only these options? If yes then the Samsung 40M87 is the best

Thanks Chrisgeo. There are a few more Sharp and LG models, but I discounted them straightaway. My search on Empire was limited to 1080p 37/42 inch screens.
