    Hiya,

Have been trying Nordost interconnects between pre and power but seem to get a hummmmm only when the Nordosts are pluged in.

Nordost suggested wrapping the cable in tin foil, but for some reason the hummm got louder??

Any ideas, I have plenty of plumbing PTFE tape  but as the cables are borrowed I am a bit worried in winding loadsa PTFE tape around them and then spending hours and hours trying to get the tape back off.

Look forward to hearing any thoughts.

Sounds like a ground loop - can you remove the shield from one connector of each cable?

Actually first I would try another (cheap) pair of cables - if it still hums disconnect the shield as stated above. At least that way you won't damage the expensive cables if it doesn't work ...
