As we have had permission from the Admin Spectre !

THIS IS HOW TO DO IT !

Make sure you dont have a cdwow browser open.

you need to go to http://www4.cd-wow.com/promotion.php?promo_refcode=12594_0&affid=12594

punch in an email and select £1.50

follow the instructions on email and purchase as normal entering the code until it comes to the payment bit. YOU MUST CLICK ON THE LINK FROM THE EMAIL TO GET THE £1.50

Then type in delete all the words after www4.cd-wow.com/ and add amex to get the £1 off bit (the number may change from 4 , 5 - 6 etc depending on how busy they are) So it will look like www4.cd.wow.com/amex. Then add to basket same DVD, it will be £1 less. then delete the dearer one. and hey presto you have got the £1.50 off voucher and the £1 off.

I doubt they can shut it down, it will have a limited shelf life, but should survive that life as the date the offer ends will have been advertised to all the users of those credit cards.

I don't think CD-WOW care to be honest, they are getting loads of trade out of it. They may not make a great deal on the sale, but it's better to make a small markup or break even than let the competition have the trade!

And I'm sure out of all the CD-WOW trade, we make up a very small percentage.

    Cheers

Its happened before mate i think i can know in some small way call myself a voice of experience! Unless of course you work for CDwow??? As they are a forum sponsor i guess they take a peak every once in a while and probably wont be happy about the extra discount, let alone the instructions being on a public forum!!! I am all for the special offers forum to be mebers only! You should contribute in order to benefit! The number of people you regitser looking for advice, get it then are never seen again is huge!!! and frankly i find it quite rude. If PM messages get more people to at least stay around a bit longer then that may help. may of course have the opposite result but i think its worth ago.

    Rant over for now:)

Well i guess it proves the point that CDwow are around here possibly as members, possibly not i have seen these methods stopped before!
If they are that happy about it why dont they post this???
Or do they let it run and then use the info to plug all the holes in the site???
The end of saving on the HK site (did you know about that one?) happened after it got a lot of publicity. Linked, not sure, i know it stopped me using them for a while. They are a superb company to deal with and customer services cannot be faulted. I got a replacement Jewel case on saturday, emailed them on tuesday got a prompt reply!!! (they have been examining the packaging for at least a year now!:lesson:

that does feel better! I must rant more often!!!  :smashin:

As CD-wow are actually ok'd the code sharing lets hope that the offer continues. Its business after all, if they were making a loss they would kill the campaign instantly. They may be rubbing their hands in glee because of all the business that gets sent their way, the online dvd market isnt exactly short of competition so surely it can only be seen as a good thing. We get great service and cheap dvds, they get rich!

They probably don't get rich. They may even take a hit. What they do is get the trade and kill some of the competiton (and then could potentially put the prices up...)

Amazon were losing millions a week for a long time. Now how many decent sites selling books are there? And Amazon are making lots of money now.

Well before this offer i never bought off cd-wow. Now ive bought a load of dvd's most of which i didn't really want but they had cheap prices. Also ive got a lot of friends and family to buy off them as thier customer service is first class.
They have had a lot of custom because of this, even if they only make 50p a dvd thats 50p more per dvd than they would have got off me otherwise.

In my view, it is just reasonable to post full details on here..... cdwow do great things for us, so it seems unfair to take advantage. We should suffice to post the codes if they happen and cdwow will shut it down if they see fit. Its only fair

Problem with that is as its not members only, any one not just forum members will see it if they want to offers members discounts then great!but make them members only.
Do CDwow maybe have Play in their sites? The Play ad campaign must be costing millions! and every disc CDwow sell is one play dont!
DVDsoon are still cheaper for some stuff though

DVD Soon almost always seem to be the best prices right now, except when someone spots an R3 bargain on Wow.

However if the free shipping really ends at the end of December (in 5 mins I could have written end of the month, can you believe it's Dec already??) then they are going to lose some serious trade...

... And that is just from me!

    Cheers

Just make sure you order them separately. That way they will be delivered in a very custom friendly way.

They do mark the packages down, in value but no sense in making it a big package when you can have lots of small ones for the same price...

When you go to the checkout, look under Delivery charge.

There is a 'GO' button with the label 'Redeem Voucher'

    Ok.. one thing

CDWOW are making a KILLING, they do not pay for this £2.50 the sponsers do ie. Lloyds and Amex.

And another thing, the top post may not work properly.

after you got your item, you need to delete back to

www?.cd-wow.com/ <- this bit only, then type AMEX..

    otherwise it wont work.

The (?) is the server it's on, i.e 5,6,7 etc. DO NOT change this...

As I said before :smoke: IMO cdwow must do very well out of these sponsored links but the sponsors themselves will not like "abuses" of the system. Hence, cdwow allow it to continue, when they can, without actively encouraging it ie posting instructions themselves!

I think this is a cunning plan from CD-WOW - they want to see how we're all doing this so they have ok'ed the publishing of how to do it so they can plug all the loopholes in their site.

    Just my 2p's worth.

You haven't done it properly then. You can't just apply the voucher to the cheaper price on their website. Read the instructions again mate.

I ordered a CD last week and got a £1.50 voucher to work. Put a DVD in the basket first to use the voucher and then binned it out before checkout.

Would just like to say that I have been a CD-Wow customer for about 5 years now - long before they even sold DVDs I think. Always found them a top web supplier. People here question how they can compete with Play etc, but remember they are a true cash and carrry type concept - they only stock chart stuff and rely on huge turnover. They don't need a warehouse full of back catalogue stuff like the others that costs them money in storage and stock. Long may they prosper (and may the codes and offers continue)

    Pat
