Installed cabling, back boxes etc...

Just a quick question regarding depth of back boxes required for A/V and network cabling?

A/V includes RF aerial feeds, RCA videos feed (component), speaker connections etc...?

Hopefully people are going to say 35mm as that would make life very easy!

Additionally, what's the technicaly name for the metal protectors you use on studwork to stop people nailing/screwing into cables running through them? They are 2" x 6" galvanized steel with four spikes, that you nail onto the stud?

Thanks in advance for any info!
