input button not working

My input button does not work therefore I cannot switch to wii or dvd. Also sometimes when I switch my tv on I get sound but no picture. After a few on /offs it works.

Hi.
Care to share make/model of TV? How old? Can you change inputs via the menus? Some TVs won't allow you to select an input if it appears disconnected; check the cables are securely connected. Are your remote batteries good?

tv is lg 42lf6. 3 years old. menu does not appear when I press input button. New batteries in remote and all cables checked.

According to P36 of the user manual, pressing the input button should turn the TV on from standby; does it? P5 says you have an input button on the right hand side of the TV, second from the bottom; does that work? Ignore what I said about selecting inputs using the menu; some models, "Input" is an option on the main menu as well; doesn't seem applicable to your model.
If the button on the side works, but the one on the remote won't even turn on the TV, it's probably just a broken remote. They're not normally worth spending much effort fixing; I see other LG remotes on amazon for under £20. Somewhere, there'll be a part number (maybe starting AK); try feeding that into google shopping and see what you come up with. Alternately, something more generic like the logitech harmony 300...

input button on tv does not bring up menu either. remote input used to work but stopped after I connected tv to internet.

Hi.
Presumably, if you point a digital camera at the business end of the remote while pressing the input button, you still see the flickering light?
Have you tried unplugging the Internet connection?
