I've seen mention of IRMan and girder for HTPC use... are there any USB alternatives?

I want one for my laptop since its looking promising as a HTPC now... decent ati radeon gfx, optical out doing DD/DTS and now my combo DVD/ CD_RW is region free due to the dvdidle software.

just need USB infrared control... since no serial ports.

there seems to be one sold by the WinDVD people but AFAIK not sold over here.

also found mention of a keyspan product which looked perfect.. but probably not available either.

    anyone?

got a Pronto so a remote isnt needed... just the IR bit.

as to why I cant use the IR on the laptop already provided... very annoying.

if you're interested... I did manage to find the keyspan usb
    product in the UK.

seems a few mac dealers stock it... but call it a "digital media remote".
computerware house have it, and also some of the apple dealers..

its a PC/Mac product so not a problem.
