I have room to add another CHT 15 to the one I have at the mo, but have a few questions:

First, how much better will it sound?

    2. in the composite pic below, which is how it would look, would my equipment be affected?

I don´t think it would sound any better, other than less distortion at higher volume (If you manage to find optimal placement and adjustments)
There should be a +6db gain if the subs works together (Phase and placement) If you don´t get everyting right you could end up with less base in the listening position..

Two subs sound much better than one, and not only more volume and less distorsion, but I am not sure if that close they wont cancel a bit...

Otherwise, I don´t think it will affect your equipment...

Bry, if set up wrong, they can sound worse. One of the things to remember is that they both need to be equal in distance to the main listening position otherwise, amongst other problems, frequency cancellation problems will occur. This is why you often see stacked subs (one atop the other). When I used a pair, I placed them in the exact configuration you have in your picture. As I don't like corner placement stacking was out of the question and the L/R of either side of centre was the next best option for me. I must say they sounded brilliant. Shame I can't afford a pair of Godzillas  otherwise I'd do it again.

Anyway, if done correctly (and its not hard to get right), a pair of subs can sound superb.

Won't those subs placed right next to your CD player effect your sound in any way? I've heard that vibrations to CD players can result in an overall reduced sound quality, king of like the CD skipping but more subtle.

    Thanks guys,

This is why im asking questions. I can only have it setup in the configuration in the pic. There is no way I can place them anywhere else in my room.

I am very happy with just the one but if two would work without causing any problems I would have another :)

This is probably not want you want to hear, and from your response in the 'center speaker' thread it's probably too late anyway because you may have already ordered a second unit, but, in your position I would spend the money on upgrading other areas of your system.

As has been mentioned, a second sub gets you more volume, and possibly a more 'even' response if your current sub's location is not ideal, but, you do not get any deeper bass or improvement in the quality of the bass. Rather than get a second sub go for a better sub, (I'm sure Eric will give you guidance here) or if you are happy with the quality and depth of bass look at spending the money on something else.

    Gary,

    Its never too late ;)

But what should I look at upgrading first?

My thinking was that with 2 x CHT 15's they would still be ok when I upgrade my receiver or speakers.

    Would I be better with 1 x HGS15 ?

I'm intersted in going S/H Tag route in the new year.

If I say Budget of 4K then what should I be looking at doing ?

    Thanks
    Bry

for £4k you could almost get two Godzilla's and kiss goodbye to the structural integrity of your house!:D :D Although saying that they wouldn't fit in that space.

    LOL,

The 15" is the maximum size I can live with.

I'm happy with the one I have and maybe should put the priority on new speakers and a S/H Tag av32r and whatever else I need.

You live fairly close to me, if you like you can come over and have a look/listen to an alternative to a Tag system which may give you some other ideas to think about, I think you've got the sub covered and need to look at other avenues.
