    Just got this from Pace:

"Thank you for using our download information service.

The next new download will start broadcasting at 10am on Monday the 23rd of August and subject to broadcast conditions, will continue broadcasting until 9am on Wednesday the 25th of August.

The main purpose of the download is to improve the memory management of the Twins box. This will extend the capability of the Twins box to display more programme information in the guide, so that over a week of information can be seen (subject to extended programme information being transmitted in your area). There will also be some minor code changes designed to improve the performance of the product.

With our ongoing commitment to the Twins box, we are developing further
improvements to the product performance. We are planning another download before the end of September (subject to availability of a transmission slot), which will address a number of issues that have been reported from consumers.

Looking further into the future, we will continue to develop this product
and aim to have another download before the end of the year. We will
announce the broadcast slots closer to the time, when we have confirmed
    dates.

Please note that this e-mail is sent from an automated distribution system,
so we cannot receive emails sent to this address."

Hope this is useful for the bug ridden pace users out there!!

IMO, A software release to extend the 4/7 day EPG is not warranted so soon after the last. I just hope that the improved memory management in conjunction with the minor code changes is what people are really after.

Good news none the less and an openness that differs quite differently from the past

You're right, this is a strange move by Pace - maybe they actually read these forums after all!

So, it's "Field Trial 39" from 7 May 2004. Hmmmmmm...

And the number to ring, if it takes longer than 20 minutes is

    Field Trial 39.

Maybe the actual "code" is better than the information. We'll see.

So, the phrase "field trial" made me hesitate to accept the download message initially and pop on this forum to guage the reaction before downloading before Wed. I still have problems with skip forwards and back, and occasionally lose CH5 video, requiring an Off/On sequence to recover the signal. I am hopeful there may be other fixes in the update - any news.

The enhanced EPG is good - have programmed a few days ahead before going on hols, and it worked !! Will try this fix I guess to improve the speed of display, but just concerned we have no regression path still !!

I downloaded the update, and (with about 5hrs watching, and x1 recording tried) no problems so far. The 7 day EPG works, but most the programme info is missing.Unless I sit there for years...

I downloaded the new update and have not noticed any difference. Still a great machine that doesn't do failed recording or freeze up on me!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That goes through my head everytime I get a new download so unless there is something super duper in the next download, I'll be giving it a miss!!!

errrrrr no looks like the code is like the imformation and well not very good. The guide still takes forever and goes every time you exit or turn off also if you leave the guide on too long i have seen problems with the picture on exit. All in all the Pace really needs a serious sortware upgrade and soon, as soon as they fix something they make another problem appear.
