    Hi,

Does anyone have any information on the updates/changes to the KEF Q-Series that has been mentioned on this forum?

Does anyone know when they will be available, and if there will be any cosmetic changes...? Which models will be effected?

I would like to buy a 5.1 package, piece by pice, but am worried that I might end up with a miss-matched system, if the speakers are updated inbetween my purchases.

    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Greg

There are quite a few cosmetic changes both to the drive units and the cabinets as well. All models are affected, the previous Q series is completely discontinued and none of the models form that will range will follow through.

We have just received the new iQ3s in the store for demonstrations, these are the replacement for the Q1s. First impressions are very good, beautiful cabinet that curves all the way round the back, not disimilar ot the B&W 805s. Soundwise they are still running in but imaging seems exceptionally good, althigh that goes without saying as the KEF Uni-Q drive units have always been good at this. I bit bright sounding initally, I'm sure they will get smoother over time.

I thought iQ3 is a replacement for Q3 not Q1? Because there is also an iQ1 which I presume would be the replacement for Q1?

Regarding the comment about "bright"; I don't know if it is just me, but I thought the past few KEF series got a little brighter with each new one, and thus I was expecting this one to follow the trend :) Having said that the other vendors are following similar roads.... must be all this craze about HT movies and adding a bit of punch or something......

I have the Q series and I find them to be quite warm, They are partnered with a Yamaha amp (quite a warm sound) and am thinking of changing the amp to a Pioneer amp to even it out a bit.

    QCompact > iQ1
    Q1 > iQ3
