Just got home and there it was, great service from Shopto, first time i have used them and will definitetly use again  will post some thoughts on the game later.

seems quite good from the 30mins i played it earlier.

gonna play it a bit more in a bit.

Been playing it for about 5 hours now and it really is brilliant. I'm following the story, and taking the good route with the side missions, which locks out the evil missions. Once I have finished the game being good, I will start again and take the evil route....so it seems that there will be a lot of replayability.

I'm loving earning xp to buy new powers, and I'm currently at the rank of Champion (the one before Hero) so I am not far through at all, but I really can't see myself getting bored with it if it carries on like this.

Just done the train mission from the demo. Much easier when you aren't just dropped straight into it and you go into it knowing what you're doing.

Highlights so far are the Satallite Uplinks side missions which are really really good fun, the precision shooting power is cool and the ability to climb up almost any building and hop from roof top to roof top.

Mines here too - fortunately my postie doesn't bother getting my signature for recorded or registered items.

I'll give it a whirl once I've celebrated a Barca victory. Will post some thought later / tomoz.

I am enjoying this game so far. Superb

Are you allowed to roam freely around the map from the start or is it linear?

Yeah you can roam freely (there are 3 islands like on GTA and only one of them is open at the start however).

But if you roam from the start you will most likely die a lot because there will be Reapers everywhere. You have to do side missions in order to stop them coming back to a certain area. I've cleared 83% of the first island now, so free roaming is pretty cool at the moment.

Just pre-ordered the ps3 console and infamous bundle from amazon for £279.99 with free delivery and am hoping it comes on Friday

Glad everyone seems to be loving this! I' ve stuck in an order tonight so should get it on Friday. I thought that the demo was great and this seems just like the kind of game I could get into at the moment.

I take it that the RPG elements from the game are pretty basic, but is there much choice in how you develop your character and his skills?

Basically you earn new skills by turnining on the power in different sections of the city. You can then upgrade those skills by spending xp on them.

In terms of developing your character, so far for me all the story missions have given me good karma. Then you have the side missions - most of them are neutral and do not change your karma, but some are good and some are bad (blue or red). If you complete a good side mission it gives you good karma and then locks out the corresponding evil side mission, and vice versa.

You are also presented with a choice in some missions whether to do a good act or an evil act, with each decision changing your karma.

Think that's it, hope it helps :)

Really loving the game so far. I have 2 negatives about it at the moment, but both are pretty minor. The first is that the enemies can shoot much further then you can which can be annoying at times. The second is that a lot of the side missions are similar or exactly the same as each other which can get a bit repetative and boring.

Top quality game, played for hours straight. Havent been into a game this much for a while. Just a great sense of mobilty and freedom.

Ive done a few of the main story missions, but am trying to work through loads of the side ones first. Cant wait to "amp" Cole up a bit:D

Its that repetitive side which worried me . . . Think il wait a week and see what peoples views are like after that amount of time :)

Thanks for that. I must admit that my only concern was that I would get bored of it fairly quickly (like I tend to with the GTA games), but the demo did leave me wanting more.

The complexity seems about right in terms of the RPG elements then, as I think if it was too complex then it would detract from the fluidness of the experience.

Looking forward to getting into this on Friday. :)

Agree with you on this one, I think if people can honestly say that they are still playing and enjoying this after a week then it may be worth a dabble, although I think a cheaper price tag would help, so may keep an eye open for some good deals. Actually its just 12 days till the release of Prototype so may just wait to see what that is like first.

Wasn't too keen on hearing that you are given karma choices on some missions, I thought that this would be something that was just naturally influenced based on your playstyle throughout the various missions, is that not the case ?

so as others have said in the preview thread it has a crackdon feel to the game is this your observation guys havent even played the demo yet but could do with a new game

Played for an hour or so and done a few missions. In my view, it's highly repetitive. I can see that I'll be bored of this one very quickly - just not enough action or thrills for me. Will give it a bash tomorrow - it may be a grower.

Have not read a single bad review on this game(think lowest score i seen was eurogamers 7 but that was well below all others) It has a good 20 hours worth if you follow the main story and more if you do every side mission.Replay value is good too as you can play through again and be evil which gives you different side missions and powers.

I would suggest you download the demo and play it as its clear that some people really like the game, for me it doesn't feel as open or as playable as Crackdown, but you'll draw the best conclusion for yourself after playing the demo.

Also, make sure that you complete the first mission (escorting the train) so you are given more freedom to explore.

Since everyone is being so damn positive I thought I'd step in with my negatives.

Firstly, did no one else think the beginning of the game was just horrible? That intro section (not the comic book style cut scene, they are nice, the tutorial bit). The graphics seemed much worse than the rest of the game and it just all felt wrong to me. As soon as you've gone into the game that all seems to sort out though.

As someone said earlier side missions can repeat, but there is more variety of side mission than there was variety in Assassin's creed missions, some of the side missions are fun too. Lets also not forget they are optional. So far I have had very little reptitiion in main storyline missions (other than the kinda boring sewer sections which just really serve as training grounds for new powers).

RPG elements are very thin, you unlock powers by going to aforementioned sewers in main story and then can you usually level up each one 3 times by collecting experience (and usually one other unlock clause such as being a hero or bad guy). Powers are gained in a linear fashion through the story and visiting the sewers. There seems to be about 12 (didn't count sorry) which includes the standard 'shoot lightning' , leech life, arc restraint and heal citizen (the last 3 which can't actually be improved). Doesn't seem to be too much choice in how you develop your characters powers to me.

Karma decisions have been quite black and white so far, I'm playing through being good and it's always been quite obvious what the good option was and I've never been tempted to go for the bad yet. I think the IGN review said these decisions do get better as the game goes on though but at the moment it's as disappointingly clear cut as the bioshock harvest/save. Someone asked earlier if it was just these karma decisions that decided if you were heroic/inFamous or your in game actions also. Your in game actions do affect (killing lots of people/leeching life force = bad, catching people alive = good) but it seems these actions only very slightly affect the good/bad meter whereas the karma decisions give youa big boost in one direction or the other.

Storyline isn't really clear so far and seems a bit cliché, but I am only a few hours in and it is essentially a super hero game. The presentation is great, I love the comic book style cut scenes. I also like Cole's voice acting, as cheesy and OTT bad-ass gravelly as it might be :D

I've also seen quite a few graphical odditys and glitches so far, absolutely nothing game breaking though. Worst I've seen was 'floating' pedestrians in the park - all that kinda stuff and really not too frequent.

So far I have to say it's not the 'teh bestt gamez eva!1!' Like I've seen it described on some PS3 forums, but it's a good solid sandbox game. If you love the sandbox style and either like to cause lots of mischief or have a good at explore this is for you. If you loved Crackdown, you'll love this. Thopugh in some ways Crackdown seemed more polished (though this seems a much more complete game, especially storywise). For the action fans it's still solid but I'd wait until you can pick it up cheaper/pre-owned. It's feeling like a 7 out of 10 for me at the moment (bearing in mind I mark harsher than most with 5 as average).

I know I've been nitpicking through this but it's just because most other people are saying how great it is and there are 2 sides to every coin! It is a good game, I just don't think it's quite a 9/10 out of 10.

I ended up losing 5 hours last night to this game, I love it. :smashin:

Does the good/evil choice effect your gameplay in any major way?

I still have nightmares from True Crime: Streets of LA when any attempt to have fun and kill some people ended the game early with you being thrown off the force.

It effect the powers you can buy via XP points and the side missions that become available.

Some power upgrades are only available depending on whether you are good/evil. Your good/evil choices also effect the story a little it seems. The general public also reacts differently depending on what level of good/bad you are (run away screaming, come up to you and tell you you're their hero). The character model changes a lot too and the electric effects. You can also do the 'good side missions' if good and bad if bad etc, but I haven't actually seen amny of these, doubt there are more than 15-20 of each. If you consider none of those effects 'major' then no.

Although I've been playing Mr.Goody-two-shoes I'm pretty sure the game won't end if you kill people. In fact there is no real police force to speak of so you can pretty much do whatever you like and get away with it. In many ways it is a true sandbox game in how much it allows you to explore and messa round.

The map isn't a particularly big one though, compared to games like GTA San Andreas anyway! Big enough though and I dislike those HUGE HUGE maps. I've still got 2/3s of it to unlock too

Thanks for your detailed thoughts FourthLion :)

With regards to the city, the environment, the people, how alive is the city? Take GTA4 as a benchmark, in comparison to that is there much going on in the city besides people walking, cars driving?

Initially I was actually impressed by this, there are 'sick' peopel who have the new plague that the city has been quarantined for laying dying at the sides of roads. Desperate people searching through bins in alleyways (presumably for food) and a few other animations like this. I quickly noticed these animations and events are repeated too frequently though and that there is a lack of variation in citizen character models. There are a lot of people/cars in the city though. I haven't really played much GTA IV but even though the citizen models/animations aren't super impressive they are probably above average for this genre of game.

To be honest it's often hard to notice them at the moment as wherever I am those super accurate damn reapers are always taking a pop at me from somewhere, even it seems when I'm in the 'cleared zones'.
