Gateways is a 2D puzzle platform game. Alongside the traditional platform elements such as jumping on enemies heads, spikes and moving platforms are the gateway guns. The gateway guns allow you to place two gateways on the walls, floors and ceilings of the lab so that when you pass through one you emerge out of the other. As progress is made through the game different types of gateway gun are introduced with different effects. After the basic gun, you acquire a gun that creates two gateways of different sizes, passing through one way shrinks Ed to half his size and the other way makes Ed grow to twice his size. After this you find a gun where one gateway doesn't just connect to the other's location but also its time, allowing Ed to travel back in time and encounter earlier versions of himself. Finally, the last gun manipulates gravity so passing through allows Ed to walk along walls and on ceilings.

Hell, you can even bend gravity to your will to perform otherwise impossible tasks (such as to avoid touching dangerous stuff)! Move back in time as needed - just in the event something goes wrong. All this takes place in a stunning and immersive 3D environment that is populated by mysterious creatures and their leftbehinds, waiting for someone to unveil the mystery.

    City Tuesday

    Description:
In City Tuesday you play a man who is stuck reliving the same five minutes before a terrorist attack. You must learn from the city's residents and the environment where the bombs are stashed and diffuse them before time is up.

    XenoMiner

    Description:
XenoMiner is the latest addition to the growing voxel-based sandbox genre. The adventure begins as you wake up after having crash-landed on Xenos, the largest moon orbiting a gas giant. With only a little oxygen in your spacesuit and a bit of salvage from the remains of your ship, you must find a way to survive alone in the harsh lunar environment. XenoMiner brings several new concepts to the genre, such as futuristic technology, anti-gravity pads and gravity-bending boots, solar-powered drilling equipment with matter-to-energy storage, and programmable bots of alien origin. The bots can be programmed to dig and build through a scripting interface which allows players to program immense and amazing structures that are then built when the bot is deployed. If you're done scratching around in the dirt with torches and stone age tools then grab your plasma-drilling P.I.C.K., throw on your space suit, boot up the local copy of your constant AI companion DAI-SE ("Daisy"), craft a few spare Oxygen tanks in your Centriforge and then head out to find the real adventure amongst the stars.

    Pixel

    Description:
In this first person puzzle/shooter you need to manipulate the environment to get from ‘A' to ‘B'. Through 25 different levels, use different particles, taking different paths and be quick with a controller to perfect your skills to move on to the next level! Speed and ingenuity are key to mastering this game!

The first game of the Summer Uprising is out:

    qrth-phyl

'Arcade documentary of maze/dot/snake mechanic within changing dimensions, axis locks and the corruption of the system. Collect, grow, avoid your past, find new space, wake up...'

    It's on at 80 points.

Looks interesting - I'll give it a try and post my thoughts.

Gateways and Diehard Dungeon are both worth trying.

    Sententia is supposedly rubbish though.

Sententia is rubbish - slow and boring.

I'm not even going to start a thread for it.

The other games I've played so far have been really well done though. Superb production values and some interesting game mechanics. The service has really developed since it began.

I think it's been the best Uprising so far - last year's was particularly poor in my opinion.

One more day to go! Pretty good so far - better than the XBLA Summer of Arcade this year anyway.

Gateways has been the pick of the bunch for me so far. Pixel (out tomorrow) looks interesting too.

I've been really impressed with most of the games - even though not all of them have been my sort of thing. It's great how the Indie games seems to have developed over the past couple of years. There are some real gems to be found.

The only game that seems out of place in this promotion as Sententia which is because it's the guy who's running the whole things game!

Gateways! is brilliant and probably tops the list for my favourite Indie game now (although it has suddenly become mind boggling - a bit like Braid did.)

City Tuesday had serious potential to be an outstanding game, but it fizzled out; as if the developer ran out of time, energy and ideas. It's still worth getting for 80 points. Be prepared for an awful ending though!

And it's over! I would say it's been a success overall this year.

With the exception of Sententia, all the games are worth checking out.

The pick of the bunch for me are: Gateways!, City Tuesday (despite its faults), Smooth Operators and Diehard Dungeon.
