Does anyone know if the region 4 boxset of indiana jones is regions 4 and 2, or region 4 only, as i dont want the cut versions, but my player is only region 2. Thanks

Isn't that fairly common with R2/4? More subbtitles than R1?

It IS common on R2 titles, and many Aussie discs are identical to R2 (including their region coding). My point was, that, for a disc which is coded R4 ONLY there is no reason for European subtitling. The presence of these suggests that these are identical to the R2 release, which would tend to suggest dual-coding. However, as I say, michaelD says otherwise.

Having read a lot of reviews on MichaelD's site I was under the impression it was common on R4 as well. Not a big deal, just making a comment.

If you look at a selection of michaelD's reviews, you will find that for the most part Aussie discs are coded for BOTH R2 and R4. Hence the European subtitles. For the (relatively few) that are R4 only, you tend to find only English subtitles.

All of which is to be expected.

What is strange about this review is that they state the disc to be R4 (only) yet it has European subtitles.

    As for

well the discs arent identical, the r4 versions (like the r1 versions) are not cut hence my desire for non region 2

it is probable that the versions of these films that are sold in many parts of mainland Europe (outside the UK) (which is still R2 land) will be equally uncut. R2 does not = UK. In the UK we often have specially edited versions that differ from the rest of (or other parts of) Europe.

The presence of European subtitles on the Aussie discs tends to suggest that they are identical to the European (which does NOT necessarily include the UK) versions. And identical includes region coding. Hence my puzzlement at the review.
