Shouldnt this be in the bargain forum??
Also note the R2 is cut.
Also Fans of Angel should check out Amazon uk aswell as they are doing Seasons 1,2,3,4 dirt cheap = £5.97 - £7.97 a season.

Its only temple of doom that is cut.

    Here is what is missing.

1984 US film by Steven Spielberg.
1:06s cuts for both cinema and video and DVD

Cuts to a close-up of a heart being ripped from the chest and the subsequent self healing of the chest wound.
The deletion of the line 'Leave him alone you bastards' when the Chinese kid is about to be whipped
Deletion of the Chinese Kid burning a guard's stomach with a flaming torch (and hence discovering an ability to heal)
The sequence in which a sacrifice victim is being lowered into the fiery pit has been shortened and set to different music.
Cut to the first 1s or 2s from the shot of his fall in order to delete the image of his head hitting the side of the cliff.
Note, the Leave him alone you bastards line is heard in the 'behind the scenes' documentary on the recently re-released tape, although the line is still cut in the main film!

The American decision to rate the film PG caused huge controversy in the US at the time. In fact, the controversy over the PG rating (which was seen by many as the MPAA caving in to Spielberg and corporate pressure) was largely responsible for the introduction of the PG-13 certificate.

In the UK today, the uncut version would now be considered as 12 or even 12/15 borderline. The PG version is still considered to be one of the stronger PGs ever certificated by the BBFC and has generated more complaints than most over the years.

The recent BBC showing is confirmed to be the cut version. The BBC in fact consulted with the BBFC to ensure that they showed the officially sanctioned cut version.

    Dave.

    EDIT.

The description above is quite old now and allthough it is still acurate, it was written before the 12A cert was introduced.

they were also selling the complete charlie chaplin 10 disk boxset £5.97, Die Hard Trilogy 6 disk boxset £5.97, Monty python 4 disk movie boxset £3.87.

No way are they going to honour those prices.

Just been to amazon to look at my order status for the indiana jones £5.97 bargain and it's dissapeared!

No record of the order whatsoever, surely that's not fair even if the price was a mistake?

Nope it is in their terms and conditions

i have posted below their conditions of sale

Despite our best efforts, a small number of the millions of products in our catalogue are mispriced. Rest assured, however, that we verify prices as part of our dispatch procedures. If a product's correct price is lower than our stated price, we charge the lower amount and send you the product. If a product's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before dispatch or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.

It took me numerous emails and 3 phone calls to Amazon. One of them they cut me off and the final call I got to speak to a manager but in the end managed to get some of the cheap DVDs I ordered honoured.

Fair enough, but the important bit is that they can and will cancel the order if these things happen, i am sure they will not be held to ransom, based on the fact that they didnt contact people, and besides most people seem to be getting the email stating that the disprepency was found.

i know i did, and it came after an email saying it had been shipped

I just didn't back down and stood my ground. The only reason I was able to get some of the DVDs is because they had charged my card already so therefore had accepted my cash offer and thus completed the contract for me buying something in order for them to provide it. They wanted to offer me a £10 gift voucher as they cancelled the order already but I said that wasn't acceptable so in the end they had to give in.
