Not ready (as I'm sure a lot of us are) to go down the HD player just yet so ready to get myself a SD (upscalling) player for the movie room (just had to send my old Tosh back down to the lounge).

Am I right in assuming that in this price bracket (sub £150) the Tosh or Sammy are the only (best) choices?

    cheers,

    Nige

PS: I'll be using the Sanyo Z4
PPS: also gutted as I've just ran GSpot on my movie files on the PC (backups of my disc and these are all XviD not DivX :(

Add the Sony DVPNS76 for consideration as well, same sort of price as the Tosh (around £80), HDMI/upscales, etc.

Well, I've just returned my third and final 360E and have now ordered
    a Sony NS76H. I just couldn't get a 360 that didn't pause randomly
during playback of film or music. Tried many discs and don't remember a single
one that got all the way through. Had no joy with toshiba helpline either,
all they could offer was return to supplier for a replacement. Lets hope
the Sony turns out to be more reliable.

many random pauses of 5 seconds or more during playback. Too many
for it to be layer changes.

So apart from the tosh lookign cheap and maybe a pausing issue, which is the best to go for between the sd-360e, the samsung HD860 or the Sony DVPNS76?

People have reported problems with the SD860 and like other posters I had a bad experience with the SD360E. I then bought the Sony and have been very pleased with it. Some people have had problems playing DivX with the Sony, otherwise just a lot of satisfied customers.
