Any recommendations for any other DVD players, budget up to £200.

Will be connecting it to a 37" Sharp LCD, my requirements are:

must have component connections (what dvd players don't these days), and also preferably DVI out (Non HDCP or at least with a hack to be able to turn HDCP off), multi-region, upscaling over component/DVI (i assume if it can upscale it will have pal/ntsc progressive output as well), not concerned with onboard aduio decoders as it will be connected directly to my amp (Denon 3802). Image quality is top priority, then sound quality, looking for a nice design and good build quality.

Anything out there that will fit the bill and do my existing equipment justice, seems like the samsung just keeps getting delayed further and further, so looking at other options now

Pixmania have the 950 due in next Friday, according to their website.

    Probably worth holding out.

It's due in 29th now the dates been changed

I been waiting for over a month now, currently without a dvd player, had to resort to using x-box which is ok but not getting the best out of the screen, and still no sign of it, thats why i'd like to know if there is any other player out that'll give me what i'm looking for

May be worth hunting for a 745? Pixmania site suggests they can be had from their "Fulham Pickup Point"...PJ

Are we saying that there are no other players worth considering within the £200 budget range ? What about the Pana s97 ? are they not as good ? I too was waiting for the 950 and I am getting fed up waiting as well. I have new LCD and am using a poineer 565a on S-Video so far but want to try upscalling. I dont really want to spend £40 on some decent componant leads so that is why I was getting the 950 as it comes with DVI cables so any more suggestions on upscalling MR players would be great.

    Thanks

s97 is a good player by all accounts, you'll need a HDMI to DVI adapter... but if you are happy to do that the Samsung 850 is an option too?

    ...PJ :)

Check out the thread on the Oppo 971 dvd player - getting good reviews and passing the tests on hometheatrehifi site. Im also on the search for a good dvi player and have waiting and waiting for the sammy for so long that I think im gonna go for the Oppo or the phillips 9000 [tempting for the good reviews its getting on sound quality].

Hope that helps and the Oppo is definitely sub £200 leaving enough to buy a quality dvi cable.

For the Panny s97 try www.multizonedvd.com , I ordered one yesterday for £149.86 plus £20 for multi-region. They are still taking orders so if you want one try them. Hopefully I will find out today when mine ships. I hope they have stock and the website is not out of date.

Where can you get the Oppo 971 from?

Website says it comes with DVI cable, wouldn't the quality be good enough?

Also, I'm a bit confused  , does DVI carry audio like HDMI, I'm sure I read on a thread somewhere that it doesn't ?

My hd950 just arrived from pixmania.

They must have a backlog, but they are getting them through.

    Be patient.
