Looking at replacing the in ear head phones that come with the Xen MP3 player

Sennheiser MX500 seem to get good reviews

I have also seen some of the Sony Earbud ones that are even more in your ear which would suit my need to help block out ambient noise see - http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=CKl02biublR0hvn3qCl-0vejcXOBSguN0Os=?ProductSKU=MDREX51LP&Dept=acc_Headphones&CategoryName=acc_Headphones_Fontopia%2e%2fEarbud

    Any advice views or thoughts.

Just to help I will be using these in an open top car :D

The Sony MDR-EX71/51 will block the outside noise, and it maybe dangerous while you are driving. I recommend the Sony MDR-Q66LW available through www.igearbox.com. The Double Wind-Up is designed for wind resistance. While the wind passes by, it lowers the noise.

By the way, what kind of vehicle are you driving?

Nice to find another forum member who not only appreciates headphones, but gas guzzling, noisy and impractical cars....almost makes me regret selling my money pit.

Lets hope the 'phones don't get blown away by the wind!

Got the phones and Oh Dear, what a disapointment.

The volume level compared to the origional is lower and so is the level of bass.

I will be either sending them back or selling on

The MX-500s I have sound better than my Sony EX-71s that were a lot more expensive. They are definitely better then a lot of stock buds. Also, it look like Shure E3, Sony MDR-E888SP/LP will probably satisfy you.
