Does anyone know a way of converting UK PAL signal to work on a Japanese in-car TV unit?

It seems there are household TV signal converters... Surely, all that's needed is a PAL to NTSC converter that runs using car voltage?

I guess the next hard bit is making the converter compatible with the stereo/TV unit?

    any ideas???? :lease:

    Thanks

    Have you checked the source?

ie a lot of dvd players will output NTSC even with a PAL disc.

    Thanks for your replies

Not having too great a depth of technical knowledge myself, it seems as if I am looking for something that seems relatively simple, but is in fact not easy/possible (without too much time and expense - so I might as well just buy a UK unit).

Basically the unit is Jap spec car stereo with built in TV (no DVD, only a sat nav external cd-based unit) - it therefore accepts only a Japanese NTSC TV signal. I was hoping to be able to convert the UK PAL1 TV broadcast signal to NTSC to be displayed on the screen. At the moment all I get is black&white with no sound.
This is a problem that many people with imported cars face, as the stereos are often expensive units, so it seems a shame to either throw them away or not have all their functions working.

I also have a Jap TV Tuner,..In dash one that Slides out,.Built in Tv Tuner And Screen,...When I plug in P/S or DVD and switch them to NTSC they Play Fine with great sound quality....
But If i just use the TV it is in Black and White with No Sound,..So I take it that it only recieves in NSTC,....
Those home Converters look great but am wondering if there is a way to plug them into my reciever to convert the Pal Signal to NTSC,..

Any Help would be great,... :lease:

    Thanks ,........Colin

I know this is an old thread. Hoping somebody can advise non-the-less.

I have a hi spec Jap head unit (cameras, TV, DVD, sat Nav, hard drive) and wish to convert certain parts.

I am currently able to play audio from external devices. I can connect my phone for calls only.

I now wish to play DVDs (PAL), TV (have purchased a Freeview unit), and convert the Sat Nav.

Any ideas as to one or more of my requirements please?
