I've seen loads of discussions on these forums about in-car cameras to protect against crash for cash scams and to also help with insurance etc.

What I'm looking for is a very discrete solution, HD would be nice and all the usual stuff you would expect, but also do they actually make one that isn't wired? Ideally one that you just have to charge up every day/week etc? The cigarette lighter in my car is in the centre console so having a cable from the camera to that would be a bit messy.

    Thanks!

Crash catcher CC3 - fits over your rear view mirror and has front and facing cameras - they were reviewed on the gadget show a while back, I might be buying one .

Thanks for the suggestion. That does look a nice bit of kit, but according to the specs it runs for 35 minutes on battery charge. Meaning it would still have to be hard wired in for any kind of length.

That just isn't practical in my car. I'm not expecting it to last for a whole day, but a couple of hours on one charge would be nice.

Yeah for me that's the holy grail of any in car camera, it needs to be able to record overnight on battery when parked up, I wouldn't want to hardwire something that might risk flatenning my car battery.

It must be possible if a system can enter a standby state and activate recording only when triggered by motion.

Are there any cameras record speed, without spending a fortune?
I'd like to be able to report one particular scrote I come across regularly.
It would be nice if I were able to record my speed, and him clearly accelerating away from me in the 30mph zone.

It's that or I batter him.

One of these works very nicely, and records Speed/GPS data. 0801

I've been keeping an eye on that thread, but as Epicurus said above, it's the holy grail system we are looking for.
