I'm looking at the PVR8000T, but have a few questions...

    Outs
    1. Can it be done via the scart to a VCR?
    2. I've read the haenlein-software programs can re-encode from the HDD in a PC to create DVD-burnable images - has anyone had experience of this?

    Ins
Recording is via the coax input. Can a VCR be connected to this to record tapes to the HDD... and then into a PC for burning? Or does the 8000 only decode the digital signals?

    Outs:

The VCR scart will output composite or s-video to a vcr.

The haenlein-software won't work, TwinRip does for audio, but the video is corrupted. Anyway it's a complete pain buggering about with moving the hdd and waiting hours for decoding. Better off to record onto a DVD recorder from the RGB output.

    Ins:

The PVR8000T like all other Freeview pvr's (at present) will only record the digital bitstream decoded from the DTT signal via the aerial. It would be nice to use it as a general recorder but this is not going to happen.

    :)

    Thanks Ikki,

The RGB to a VCR may be the best solution, but it is a shame having a digital program on HDD and having to dump it to tape (we don't have a DVD-R) - like copying an illuminated manuscript with a crayon.

I guessed as much about the recording side.

    Thanks again for the advice

    Hiya,

If I was to plug a DVD player into the VCR scart, will it be passed through to the TV scart ?

I only have one scart on my TV.

    Cheers,
    Phil.
