Have known about the R1 release a while, it's been on my list but never got round to ordering it.
So whilst at the asda shopping with the better half this morning i noticed they were just putting it out on the racks (presume it's the R2 release date today) 99% of the time i order R1, but for some strange reason it jumped into my trolley.
Does anyone know if there's any noticable difference between the two, i know it's a bit soon to compare picture/sound quality as it's just been released, so has anyone not ordered R1 and waited for R2? Should i have stuck with R1?

There is one quite major difference between the regions. The total absence of Die Hard With A Vengeance.

Other than that noticable missing 'feature', everything looks the same.

DH3 is released next month, but why not as a trilogy boxset?

£40 for the R2 boxset, when you can pay the same for the R1 boxset with all three films in DTS, seems a bit steep to me.

The R2 versions are probably quite badly cut.

I wondered where D3 was......... brits short changed again...!!

Have got the widescreen VHS copy of D2 certificate 18 where as the full screen version was only a 15 certificate, so i will be able to notice what cuts have been made on that one.
If not totally satisfied will return them and spend my credit note on some beer, then order the R1 ..........fact: males go brain dead when food shopping...!!

BTW asda's price was £34.97 so i slapped the cashiers bum on the way out...instead of mine ;)

the right to die hard with a vengance are owned by beuna vista where as the other two are owned by 20th century fox, that why no R2 boxset with all three, same story with Jurassic park 12, and 3 (Columbia Tristar/Universal). I've got R1 version but aparantly the R2 version has had some of the scenes envolving the twin towers cut out of it, haven't seen it so I couldn't say for sure.

Bought this today from Smiths, only £29.99. I like their pricing structure!

Not bothered about getting R1 for this, didn't rate the third film much.

Well the listing for the Die Hard Movie comparrison at Rewind lists R1 as an overall winner but the only differences seem to be some DVD-ROM features for if you want to play the disk on your PC.

Both are anamorphic with DD5.1 & DTS tracks.
R2 is PAL R1 is NTSC.

So really I guess its down to price and maybe a 'marginally' better picture perhaps, due to a PAL transfer rather than an NTSC one.

    Hope that helps a little

Watched DH1 last night ......didn't notice any cuts. But then it's been a while since i last watched this film.
Picture and sound were............Dum De Dum Delightltful......:D
If DH2 is of the same quality, then all my fears will have been laid to rest......and will never go food shopping again.....!!

only difference I can find between the R1 & R2 sets is that the R2 disk of DH3 has about 20s of cuts. Not sure what is cut though.

    Regards
