I have a Celestion S8 subwoofer, downwards firing and ported. I have a carperted floor. I thought that placing the sub on a slab of MDF might improve sounds-is this true?

It depends on the subwoofer. Try it and see. I favour concrete slabs. But mothers, partners, girfriends, boyfriends and wives may not. (Did I leave anybody out?)

Chipboard or a slab will squash the carpet permanantly! So be very careful where you site your subwoofer. Or you could be in serious trouble from "The Management"!
